Expressing opinions.Если в конце задания спрашивается, согласны Вы или нет, или в какой степени Вы согласны (Do you agree or disagree, to what extent do you agree?)
Advantages/Disadvantages. Данное сочинение должно быть более нейтральным, т.е. конкретно Ваше мнение здесь обычно не спрашивают. Вас попросят проанализировать достоинства и недостатки чего-нибудь.
Providing Solutions. В задании обозначена проблема, и Вас просят предложить решения для нее.
Discursive Essays. Рассмотреть проблему с разных точек зрения, например финансирование исследования космоса с точки зрения политики, экономики и населения страны.

In the past, shopping was a routine domestic task. Many people nowadays regard it as a hobby.
To what extent do you think this is a positive trend?

Going shopping used to be a chore, but recently it has become a leisure activity or a pleasant outgoing. To my mind, it is debatable whether this can be regarded as a wholly positive development.

For earlier generations, buying food or consumer products involved visiting several shops, each with the same limited range on offer. Consumers had less money and credit was not widely available. By contrast, shopping has become one of the most pleasurable leisure activities. It is even possible to do shopping on-line, with the Internet allowing shoppers to buy at their will without having to leave the comfort of their armchairs.

These days, with many parents working full-time, families have little time together. In my experience, it is normal to see families in the local shopping mall at weekends. Undoubtedly, one of the benefits of this is that they are together as a family. Nevertheless, this is not ideal, as shopping does not help to maintain intimate relations.

Another negative result of this change in attitudes is that many young people suffer from the serious medical condition of shopping addiction. One of my acquaintances is considered to be a manic shopper. She is seriously in debt, and the condition has led to depression and family break-up. In my opinion, young women are particularly hard at risk because of the aggressive marketing of many firms, which target the health, beauty and fashion products at that age group.

In conclusion, I would like to suggest that although shopping now is less tedious, this is not necessarily a positive trend. It may be good for the retailers, but not for consumers if it causes problems.

Писала я, значит, писала эссе, и тут - оп! - ноут завершил обновление каких-то своих данных и начал перезагружаться! Нормально, да? Отдай мою работу, супостат!
Пока он перезагружается, напишу-ка я пост.
Я так бездарно провела прошлый год, что у меня нет сил, я злюсь. Нет, не так, Я АДСКИ ЗЛА. Какой был смысл учить лексику, если она у меня в пассивном словаре? Какой был смысл так надрываться, а именно этим я и занималась, если, сука, мне просто нужно было нанять себе репетитора и прорабатывать всю лексику УСТНО? Ненавижу свой университет, чтоб все там сдохли.

Но в этой ситуации есть и положительные моменты. Никто никому ничего не должен. 4 отрицания в одном предложении! Я поняла, что ты можешь рассчитывать только на себя, должен быть самостоятельным, не бояться идти по головам, бороться и добиваться, а не ждать, пока тебе принесут все на блюдечке.

Делаю practice tests.

Из минусов:
- я невнимательно могу прочитать вопрос, тупо постановку прошляпить;
- не умею пока описывать causes и consequences, диаграммы с процессами в writing task 1;

Нужно
- разуть глаза, включить мозги быть внимательнее;
- разобрать как можно больше примеров из writing task 1;
- поднять специализированную лексику и писать эссе.

Сейчас будет ржака, но пусть.
В прошлом году в сентябре я пыталась все успевать, работала, училась, старалась ничего не упускать, занималась любой мелочью. В этом году я делаю только то, что считаю нужным мне, остальное посрать. Понимаю, что мне будет несладко, но если растрачивать себя на все, никаких сил не хватит. И еще я стала слишком стара (!!!), да-да, именно так, чтобы скакать каждый день с утра до ночи да еще и по делам, которые мне параллельны. Это в 17 можно было с утра слопать бутер с чаем, в обед яблоко и тусить до 3 утра, а сейчас я чувствую, что уже не хочу так издеваться над организмом, не тот он уже у меня, маленький.
В октябре буду налаживать сейчас запущенные дела, а в данный момент нужно делать более важные. Work smart, not hard. Хотя как это смарт, я все равно занята целыми днями!

Writing Task 1

Знающих английский, прошу проверить. Качество фотки телефонное, но вроде разобрать можно.
Меня немного смущает, что я охватила не все regions, но нужно же select и compare.



This bar chart compares the growth in the percentage of the population in urban areas in six regions of the world in the years 1950, 2007 and 2050. Generally speaking, while the number of people living in cities is growing in all the parts, the change is less marked in some regions than others.

It is immediately evident that the percentage of population living in urban areas in Africa and Asia more than doubled between 1950 and 2007, from 15% to 37% and from 17% to 41% respectively, whereas in North America and Oceania it increased by a quite small minority. However, in these regions over the half people already lived in cities by 1950.

When we compare the projected increases in Latin America, the Caribbean and North America by 2050 we see that the proportion of the population living in cities in Latin America, the Caribbean is almost identical to North America, in spite of being by 22% lower in 1950.
