Writing Task 2

In many countries there is continuous coverage of sport on television. Some people believe this discourages the young from taking part in any sport themselves.
Discuss this view and give your own opinion.

These days, it is noticeable that young people are becoming lazier and more indifferent to team games and sports. Coming home after school or work they prefer sitting in front of the TV set and watching numerous entertainment shows including sports programs to going to the tennis courts or the swimming pool.

The question is, how much of this laziness and indifference is because of the sports programs on television? From one point of view it could be true that many young people are attracted to the television programs so much that there is no spare time for them to participate themselves. It is a fact that increasing numbers of young people are growing into television addicts and, as a consequence, becoming the so-called «couch potatoes».

By contrast, watching sports may inspire the young to take up sport and to learn what they can do with their own body. I know teenagers in my neighborhood who play football in matches at weekends. As well as this, they admire famous sport stars who are their role models and watching them on television is a strong motivation for them to participate in sporting activities. Thus, I would assume there are positive aspects of sports programs on television.

In my opinion, the fundamental issue is the reason why we are interested in sport. If a person likes watching sports games and competitions only, they are unlikely to do sport. However, if a person enjoys being active and, then sports programs will never prevent them from joining in.

Страшно недовольна собой. Меня всегда сбивала с толку пунктуация. А еще фиг его знает, можно ли писать TV set.
Но графики, по-моему, еще сложнее. Особенно когда сравнивается table и pie chart или какая-нибудь выебистая flow chart. Мне даже на них бывает смотреть страшно, не то что описывать.
